Defendant responsibilities after release

A bond is not finished when somebody walks out. It stays open until the case ends, and it depends on the defendant doing six things.

  1. 01

    Be at every court date

This is the whole bond in one line. Show up early, dressed for court, at the right courtroom. If you are unsure of a date or a location, call us and we will check it rather than guess.

  2. 02

    Stay reachable

Keep a working phone number with us and answer it. A defendant we cannot reach looks the same on paper as one who has left, and that is when a bond gets called.

  3. 03

    Tell us before you move

A change of address or a change of job goes to us in advance, not after the fact. It takes a two minute phone call and it protects the person who signed for you.

  4. 04

Do not leave the jurisdiction without permission

Travel out of the area, and out of state in particular, has to be cleared first, by the court and by us. Ask before you book anything.

  5. 05

Keep any check-in we agree to

Some bonds come with a check-in schedule. If yours does, it is part of the agreement, not a suggestion.

  6. 06

Follow every condition the court set

No-contact orders, testing, curfews, ignition interlock. A new charge or a violated condition puts the existing bond at risk on its own.

Call before it becomes a problem

A missed date can sometimes be handled if we hear about it early. Missing one and going quiet is how a bond gets revoked and a warrant gets issued. If you are about to miss court, if you lost the paperwork, or if you moved last week and forgot to say so, call (251) 751-3977 now. That call is easier than the alternative for everyone, including the person who signed for you.
